Men’s Choir “Absolventi”

The choir “Absolventi” is one of Latvia’s leading men’s choirs. It was founded in 1959 by the distinguished Latvian conductor Pauls Kvelde, under whose leadership the choir developed for many years and became widely known. In 1999, artistic leadership was taken over by his student, Song Festival chief conductor Arvīds Platpers, and since 2014 the choir has been led by Edgar Vītols, chief conductor of the Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival. The choir’s repertoire includes Latvian classical and contemporary choral music, as well as works by foreign composers. The ensemble actively participates in patriotic events and has performed widely across Europe, gaining international recognition. Notable is its collaboration with composer Raimonds Pauls and other choirs, as well as participation in major musical projects with professional ensembles. Conductors Pauls Kvelde and Arvīds Platpers have been awarded the Order of the Three Stars for their contribution to culture.
