Middle Generation Dance Ensemble “Latve”

The middle‑generation dance ensemble “Latve” was created during the Covid pandemic as a bold idea — to bring together people with no prior dance experience to learn Latvian folk dances together and strive toward the Song and Dance Festival. The ensemble unites long‑time friends, mainly married couples from Riga and the surrounding area, who, despite pandemic‑related interruptions, continued learning and improving with determination. Under the leadership of Kristīne Jirgensone and later Sarma Freiberga, “Latve” fulfilled its dream by participating in the 2023 Song and Dance Festival and gaining experience in concerts both in Latvia and abroad. This ensemble is a vivid testament that with enthusiasm, perseverance, and a shared goal, it is possible to achieve great results even for those who began dancing only in adulthood.
