Men’s Choir “Silvicola”

The Latvian Forest Workers’ Men’s Choir “Silvicola” was founded in 1980, uniting men’s vocal ensembles from various forestry enterprises. The name “Silvicola”, meaning “forest dweller” in Latin, was chosen at the suggestion of forester Miervalds Bušs. Since its founding, the choir has been one of the largest and most active men’s choirs in Latvia, performing both in Latvia and many foreign countries. Among its significant achievements are a Gold Diploma at the 2018 choir competition in Singapore and the Grand Prix in Armenia in 2019. The choir’s repertoire includes choral classics, original compositions, songs about forests and nature, as well as folk songs.
