Folk Applied Arts Studio “Ataudze”
The folk applied arts studio “Ataudze” has been active since 1969, beginning as a basket‑weaving group led by master Artūrs Vīksna at the “Draudzība” Cultural House, and is currently led by Ineta Vēvere. The works created in the studio follow ancestral traditions, preserving cultural heritage, and are made from various natural materials — willow rods, strips, reeds, bulrush, and other plants — weaving baskets, bags, hats, toys, and decorations, developing creativity, patience, and precision. Participants take part in local and national exhibitions, as well as exhibitions in Lithuania, Estonia, Japan, and Finland, and some masterworks are included in the collections of the Latvian National History Museum and the Latvian Ethnographic Open‑Air Museum.
